The Keeper of The Holy Key

Video From The Sacred Heart of Holy Land

For many years, Jerusalem was limited for me to an office building on the outskirts where journalists get permits to work in Gaza. But in 2018, I fulfilled a long-held dream and visited the Old City. I immediately ran to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, but it was closed right in front of my nose in the middle of the day. It was the only day of the entire year when it is closed after the morning service - Holy Thursday. However, I had a wonderful conversation with the person who keeps the keys to the Church, Abid Jawad Judi al-Husseini, and finally learned why one family holds the keys while another family opens and closes the Church's doors. By the way, the key you can see in this short video was given to the keepers's ancestors by Saladin himself.
